13.2 was created as a VR-installation within CT::SWaM’s group exhibit #VRstilllistening in (2021). This is a binaural 3D rendering utilizing ambisonic tech inside a 13.2 idiosyncratic multichannel sound environment focused on discrete and panned channels. The final result is a blend of MAX/MSP generative multichannel outputs, combined with discrete mixes of performing hands-on material to working with sound, such as extended techniques to turntable and vinyls, resonant objects, altered audiocassettes, contact mic applications, EMF emissions, and signification of light. The work was captured live by physically moving around the space and within the multichannel set up. The result is a mix of composing by interacting with sound as much as moving through the space balancing out, creating new nuances, emphasis, and listening results. Similar approach to what one does in nature with field recordings.
